How to block automatic updates and prompts on non-jailbroken Apple TV 4

With the release of Ian Beer’s new exploit, some hope for a future Apple TV 4 jailbreak has appeared. The exploit will theoretically work on firmwares up to and including tvOS 11.1, but not 11.2 and higher. For this reason, I advised in my jailbreak guide that Apple TV 4 users who want to have a chance of jailbreaking manually restore now to tvOS 11.1, before it goes unsigned. You can use our guide on the topic to do so…. How To Downgrade From iOS 10 To iOS 9

If you’ve installed iOS 10 and prefer iOS 9, whether it’s to jailbreak or you just prefer it, you’re in luck. You can easily rollback/downgrade, however hurry as this window of opportunity won’t last forever.

Step 1 – Backup

If you ever want to come back to iOS 10, or something goes wrong, you’ll thank yourself for having everything saved. I recommend iCloud simply for convenience. However, backing up to iTunes comes with the added advantage that you can archive it, however beware as backups aren’t so easily encrypted with iOS 10. Read here to find out more.

To carry out an iTunes backup, carry out the following steps.

  1. Plug in your iPhone, iPod or iPad into your PC (USB only, no wireless syncing) and open iTunes.
  2. Click the device icon, then select iTunes backup.
  3. Click Backup now and watch the progress bar at the top.
  4. Wait for said backup to finish.
  5. Go to iTunes > Preferences > Devices (Mac) OR Edit -> Preferences -> Devices (Windows) and look for the backup you just completed.
  6. Hold the Ctrl key (Mac) and click on the backup, or Right Click for Windows. In the context menu, select the option Archive.

Step 2 – Download iOS 9

I personally recommend a website called, simply because it downloads from the official Apple website and offers a really great interface. You can also download IPSW files from iJailbreak’s download section.

Find the iPSW for your device, and download the latest iOS 9. The other’s have stopped being signed by Apple so you won’t be able to install them unfortunately.

Download it to your desktop, or somewhere else you can easily find.

Step 3

While it’s downloading, take this opportunity to turn off ‘Find my iPhone’. Unless your iPhone is in DFU mode then it will need turning off before you restore otherwise iTunes won’t let you restore. If you are in DFU mode then don’t worry, iTunes can’t tell.

Step 4

Once the download is complete, go into iTunes and instead of simply clicking the Restore button, hold down either Option & Command on a Mac, or hold down the Shift key on Windows, then click ‘Restore’

This will bring up a Finder window (Mac) or a Windows Explorer (Windows) window. Simply navigate to wherever you saved it (this is where keeping it somewhere memorable is useful!)

Select it, then click OK or double click, or press enter, or whatever else you normally do to select a file.

Step 5

iTunes will now verify the integrity of the file and begin the restore. Just leave your device plugged in with a good cable and come back in 10-20 minutes and it will all be done.

I recommend, especially on Windows, leaving your computer just to restore your iDevice, as iTunes is hardly the most reliable program and you don’t want it bricking your device.

You’re now finished

If iTunes gives you any errors then Google them or leave a comment down below and the community will help you solve them.

As always, leave a comment below if you found this guide useful and are you going to stick with iOS 10? Or rollback to something a little more traditional?

How To Jailbreak iOS 9.2 – iOS 9.3.3 Using Pangu

If you’re looking to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod or iPad running iOS 9.2 up to 9.3.3, then look no further as Pangu is your solution to everything.

For those of you who don’t know, a brief summary of jailbreaking is essentially opening your iOS device up to editing and the ability to install tweaks that Apple doesn’t want you to install.

So, you’ve got your iOS device and you’re running a compatible version, here’s what you need to do to. (Don’t forget, all of this is completely reversible using a simple software restore)

Step 1

Go to – This is the only official pangu website, all the others are fakes and will most likely try to scam you.

Pangu Web Address

The language will normally automatically adjust using your source country.

Step 2

You should hopefully be greeted with the following page (Written 23rd September 2016 – This may have changed since).

Simply click on the centre red button to download and you’ll be taken to another page.

Pangu Home Page

Step 3

Don’t worry! This looks much more complicated than it actually is!

Pangu Download

All of the text within the guide is probably confusing you, so allow me to explain.

Starting at the top…

Size, Version, MD5 and SHA1: You don’t need to worry about these at all. MD5 and SHA1 are essentially verification codes.

Pangu Jailbreak file: An iPA is an Application essentially. Pangu, and Cydia, are apps. The app simply needs putting on your device an alternative way to how Apple would prefer you to do. Hence the need to download it.

Cydia Impactor: Fancy phrasing for install program. This is the program that will run on your computer (Mac, Windows & Linux).

Embedded Certificate: Sometimes, app developers such as Ubisoft, like to test how there games work on real devices, so they install a certificate to allow them to install said app, without downloading from the app store. All this certificate does, is allow you to install the app to jailbreak your device. Nothing More.

Anyway, back to the guide.

Step 4

Download both the ‘Cydia Impactor’ (fancy installer name) and the iPA file to a folder on your desktop. I recommend keeping them in the same folder just so you don’t lose them.

Unzip the ‘Cydia Impactor’ using the default unzipping tool and run it. A small window should open up that looks like the one in.

Step 5

Connect your iOS device to your computer using a fully working cable, not one that you have to bend to get to work as this could cause corruption during the jailbreak, which just adds more confusion!

Step 6

Open up the folder that you kept the iPA in and simply drag it over to where your iPhone name is and drop it when you see the “copy” popup label.

Step 7

Once thats done, we’re almost onto the easy stuff now!

Now you simply need to enter your iTunes email login and password. Don’t worry, these aren’t ‘sold on’ or anything, just sent directly to Apple’s servers.

Step 8

A big scary warning will pop up now, simply ignore it unless you have an active, iOS developers account.

The warning is pictured below, however you only need to worry if you develop apps and submit them to the App Store

Again, there is no need to worry.

Step 9

It’s time to sit back and relax for a while now.

The ‘Cydia Impactor’ will automatically sort everything out in the background and install the app you dragged over earlier, onto your device. The only error notification is normally if your Apple ID or password was wrong.

Unlock your device and head to the settings app, ignore anything new that may have been installed on the home screen, its not ready for you just yet.

So, the route is : Settings -> General -> Device Management

There will be a new profile using your Apple ID that you entered earlier as the developers name. Simply tap on it and, if prompted, say you trust the profile.

Step 10

Click the home button to exit out of settings and take a browse on your iOS device and find the Pangu App. It should be installed like any other app, if not, try rebooting your device.

Step 11

Click the start button and let your device work its magic. Once it’s done you will find a new app named Cydia, and you have now officially jailbroken your device.

How To Save Snapchat’s WITHOUT Giving The Game Away – Mac Only

Saving Snapchat’s without letting the other person know has been a constant theme ever since Snapchat was released. In previous iOS 8 betas it was possible to save the photo using the normal screenshot method without the other person knowing.

Now, it has got a lot more difficult. With Snapchat cracking down on apps such as Snap-Save, Snap-Hack and more, it’s become an accepted trend that we can no longer save those photos that we’d all like to.

The reason for the ‘cracking-down’ was partially due to it defeating the point of Snapchat, but also because the third party apps were being hacked causing massive data dumps of peoples personal images (including a few saucy ones) which left a lot of people, very unhappy.

Well now, there is a way, that will work forever. Note, this has only been tested on a Mac, however I’m sure in the future, it will be easier on Windows as well.

Step 1

Have Snapchat installed and working on your iPhone/iPod

Step 2

Plug your iPhone into your Mac and unlock it before launching QuickTime Player (Built in by default).

Step 3

When it opens a file select finder window, simply click ‘Done’ and navigate to the menu bar, and select ‘New Movie Recording’

QuickTime Player - New Movie

This will launch a webcam / “FaceTime HD” window. Don’t worry, you’re not going to have to do some weird contortion of your iPhone and take a photo using the webcam!

Step 4

QuickTime Source Select

You guessed it, change it over to your iDevice! (Don’t see it? CMD + Q out of Quicktime Player, unplug & re-plugin your device and relaunch QuickTime Player).

Step 5

Launch Snapchat on your device and open all the Snapchat’s you like, just don’t forget to press record first!

Leave a comment below if this is useful and any other methods you’ve come across that work! As always don’t forget to get in touch using Facebook, Twitter or anything else.
