How to Search for Words in a Specific YouTube Video

It’s easy to find the exact spot in any YouTube video by using your browser’s search function, in conjunction with YouTube’s closed caption feature.

Most YouTube videos come with captions—either manually added or automatically generated. However, if a video doesn’t then it won’t be possible to follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to the YouTube video you want to search.
  2. Beneath the video, click the More icon (three horizontal dots).
  3. Click Open transcript. This will open a timestamped list of captions to the side of the video.
  4. Press Ctrl + F to open your browser’s search function. Input the word or term you want to search. If it’s found in the transcript, it will be highlighted.
  5. You can click that caption line to jump to the part in the video where your search term is spoken.

Remember, this relies on the accuracy of the captions. It isn’t guaranteed that the captions are all correct, especially if they have been automatically generated.

How to Search for Words Across Many YouTube Videos

This method is useful for when you want to find any YouTube videos that contain a specific word or phrase.

YouGlish search words

  1. Go to YouGlish.
  2. Input the word or phrase you want to find in the search field and click Say it.
  3. Use the controls beneath the video to Play and jump to where that word or phrase appears.
  4. Press Ctrl + Right arrow to move to the next video.

YouGlish doesn’t work on automatically generated captions. As such, it will only find videos where the captions have been manually added.

12 Bad Habits That Are Making You Tired at the Office

There’s nothing wrong with feeling tired at the office once every so often. But if fatigue and lethargy are the norm rather than the exception then it may indicate a deeper problem worth investigating.

There are many reasons for bouts of office fatigue, and you should always consult your doctor or a medical professional when possible, but the problem could be as simple as a few bad habits that you’ve picked up.

Breaking these habits won’t be easy. But with a bit of determination and small changes made little by little every day, office exhaustion could soon be eradicated from your life.

1. Late Night Digital Activity

This first habit isn’t an office habit per se, but can have a huge impact on how well you feel during the day and so it shouldn’t be overlooked. Long story short, digital screens can negatively impact your sleep quality.

The artificial light from smartphones, tablets, computers, and televisions have been linked to worsened sleep quality.

Stop checking your emails right before you go to bed and avoid binging on Netflix into the early hours of the night. Ideally, you should be digital-free for one hour prior to sleeping.

2. Not Waking Up Early

Even if you’re getting the recommended 5–9 hours of sleep every night, you won’t feel rested unless those hours are truly restful. As with most things, sleep and rest are more about quality than quantity.

Don’t forget that monitor height is important too! Too high and you can get tension headaches in your forehead. Too low and you can throw off your posture and strain your neck. The top of the monitor should line up with your eyes when looking straight ahead.

7. Sitting Rather Than Standing

  • Keep your butt at the back of the chair.
  • Keep your feet flat (use a footstool if needed.)
  • Don’t sit up straight.
  • Don’t lean forward.
  • Don’t use armrests or lean on your elbows.

The thing about bad posture is that it wastes energy while good posture keeps your muscles in a relatively relaxed state and conserves how much energy is needed just to keep yourself upright. It’s perhaps key to defeating computer fatigue.

Over the long run, bad posture can lead to trouble falling asleep, muscle tightness, and a hunchback. Here’s a quick 3-minute exercise that can your bad posture.

9. Refusing to Take Regular Breaks

Short-but-frequent breaks are critical for staving off fatigue because they address most of the issues mentioned above (but only if your breaks involve getting up and walking away from the computer.)

For starters, breaks are good at interrupting any prolonged sitting positions. Breaks are also good for getting your blood flowing and activating your muscles. Plus, you end up giving your eyes a much-needed rest from the computer screen.

Also, hydration is another key component in fighting off fatigue, so try to drink a cup of water every time you take a break. You’ll be surprised how much better you’ll feel with proper hydration alone.

10. Working Too Long and Hard

There are many detrimental effects, both physical and mental, of regularly overworking oneself. You will feel much better when you pump the brakes.

Workaholism is a serious and growing problem for office workers across America. There isn’t a strict medical definition for workaholism, but there are several signs that could indicate you are one:

  • Fear of being unproductive.
  • Inability to get away from work.
  • Chasing after more work during lulls.
  • Neglecting health and hygiene.
  • Never satisfied with your work.

It’s easy to see how these factors can contribute to not only mental exhaustion but physical exhaustion as well (because workaholism tends to result in long hours at the office, lots of stress, and insomnia.)

11. Ignoring Seasonal Depression

While seasonal depression itself isn’t a bad habit, ignoring that it exists is. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine:

“Some people experience a serious mood change during the winter months, when there is less natural sunlight. This condition is called seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Not everyone with SAD has the same symptoms.”

Note that seasonal depression differs from clinical depression. Seasonal depression flares up and goes away with the availability of natural light whereas clinical depression isn’t related to light at all.

Common symptoms include anxiety, emptiness, irritability, fatigue, and mental fog. If you suffer from seasonal depression, there are several light therapy lamps you can try to help minimize these symptoms.

12. Not Exercising

It might sound counterintuitive, but not exercising will make you more lethargic. According to the National Sleep Foundation, 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week can make you 65% less tired during the day.

  • Don’t sit up straight.
  • Don’t lean forward.
  • Don’t use armrests or lean on your elbows.

The thing about bad posture is that it wastes energy while good posture keeps your muscles in a relatively relaxed state and conserves how much energy is needed just to keep yourself upright. It’s perhaps key to defeating computer fatigue.

Over the long run, bad posture can lead to trouble falling asleep, muscle tightness, and a hunchback. Here’s a quick 3-minute exercise that can your bad posture.

9. Refusing to Take Regular Breaks

Short-but-frequent breaks are critical for staving off fatigue because they address most of the issues mentioned above (but only if your breaks involve getting up and walking away from the computer.)

For starters, breaks are good at interrupting any prolonged sitting positions. Breaks are also good for getting your blood flowing and activating your muscles. Plus, you end up giving your eyes a much-needed rest from the computer screen.

Also, hydration is another key component in fighting off fatigue, so try to drink a cup of water every time you take a break. You’ll be surprised how much better you’ll feel with proper hydration alone.

10. Working Too Long and Hard

There are many detrimental effects, both physical and mental, of regularly overworking oneself. You will feel much better when you pump the brakes.

Workaholism is a serious and growing problem for office workers across America. There isn’t a strict medical definition for workaholism, but there are several signs that could indicate you are one:

  • Fear of being unproductive.
  • Inability to get away from work.
  • Chasing after more work during lulls.
  • Neglecting health and hygiene.
  • Never satisfied with your work.

It’s easy to see how these factors can contribute to not only mental exhaustion but physical exhaustion as well (because workaholism tends to result in long hours at the office, lots of stress, and insomnia.)

Workaholism is a multi-faceted problem so there isn’t a one-step solution for you. If you think you suffer from it, please consult a therapist and/or a workaholics support group.

11. Ignoring Seasonal Depression

While seasonal depression itself isn’t a bad habit, ignoring that it exists is. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine:

“Some people experience a serious mood change during the winter months, when there is less natural sunlight. This condition is called seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Not everyone with SAD has the same symptoms.”

Note that seasonal depression differs from clinical depression. Seasonal depression flares up and goes away with the availability of natural light whereas clinical depression isn’t related to light at all.

Common symptoms include anxiety, emptiness, irritability, fatigue, and mental fog. If you suffer from seasonal depression, there are several light therapy lamps you can try to help minimize these symptoms.

12. Not Exercising

It might sound counterintuitive, but not exercising will make you more lethargic. According to the National Sleep Foundation, 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week can make you 65% less tired during the day.

If you can’t get to the gym, try one of these workout apps. Even going for a long, brisk walk is really beneficial. Pop a podcast on and get out there!

Tackle These Bad Habits One at a Time

If you’re feeling bad because more than half of these apply to you, fear not! Take a deep breath, relax, and realize that you don’t have to fix all of them overnight.

Some of them can be rectified in minutes (like the one regarding monitor placement) while others may take weeks or months (such as fixing your posture.) Regardless, focus on one thing at a time. Don’t rush it.

The Hardest Online Games to Play in Your Browser

Do you like playing a hard game every now and again? There’s a thrill in tackling a challenging game and beating it.

So, to help you get your fix, we’ve rounded up the hardest online games that you can play in your web browser.

Exit84 is a platformer with a difference. Instead of using directional keys to move your character, you instead have to type specific sequences that appear on the screen. Once you type it, your character transports there.

Pix Hop may look simple, but it’s anything but. You control a bouncy white square in this endless platformer. The more you move and the more coins you collect, the higher your score.

Of course, there’s lots of enemies flying at you, plus the floor keeps dropping away randomly. Keep on bouncing!

Delivering the post is tough in the wind and rain, but how about on a pogo stick? Pogo Postman puts you in that exact situation and you must contend with tricky terrain as you bounce to deliver letters.

Zig Zag would be calming if it wasn’t so difficult. It’s unlikely that you’re going to be able to last more than a minute or two in this game.

You control a colored line within a zigzag shape. The screen constantly rotates and you need to use the arrow keys to push the line in the right direction. However, with the orientation constantly changing, that’s no easy feat.

Normally, rockets aren’t fired from catapults, but Rocketpult isn’t worried about logic. You must spin the catapult and then launch your rocket, using the boosters to control its trajectory.

You can enable slow motion to get more refined control, but be careful not to land in the water or run out of fuel. Bonus points are awarded for skill and style.

Dodge is a reflex game where you control a circle with your cursor. Enemies are constantly flying at you that you must avoid, and an additional challenge comes from the constantly morphing landscape.

If you want to make Dodge even harder, hop into the settings and rack up the difficulty. You can also change the color palette; each style has its own leaderboard to keep you busy for a long time.

In Insane, you control a rolling square that you must guide towards the end of the course. You can slow the square down, but be careful to avoid the traps or fall off the edge.

Insane spans 50 levels and increases in difficulty as you progress. It also has a witty sense of humor, ensuring you’ll be laughing as your square rolls off the edge for the 100th time.

11. You Have to Win the Game

You Have to Win the Game is both the name and the aim of this difficult browser platformer. This is an exploration platformer designed to look like it’s being played on a 1980s computer monitor.

The game is hard enough by default, but you can ramp it up by choosing the Extra Spicy campaign and enabling YOLO Mode which disables checkpoints and enables no respawning.

12. Streamline

The aim of Streamline is to grow the line so it reaches the purple square. You can control the direction, but not the distance. As such, you have to bump into other blocks and power-ups so that you don’t get trapped.

The game starts off easy, but soon gets devilishly difficult. If you manage to finish all the levels, there’s an infinite mode with procedurally generated puzzles.

13. Divine Trials

Hop into your chariot and battle some formidable opponents of the Greek civilization in Divine Trials. This is a bullet hell game, where your screen is constantly littered with bullets that you need to dodge.

You only have three lives, so you’ll need to nimbly control your chariot. Amusingly, after each boss you need to choose which gift you want to give to the gods in exchange for power.

He Almost Killed me is a game that represents the difficulties creative people face when making something. Suitably, it’s also very, very hard.

Does Windows 10 Freeze Your Computer? Try This!

Windows 10 should run smoothly for most people, but there are times when Windows 10 can freeze or lock up your system. Sitting there while your computer hangs is frustrating and you shouldn’t have to deal with it.

Whether your computer is freezing after installing Windows 10 or one of its updates, or if it’s just suddenly starting locking up, we’re going to provide various steps to stop Windows 10 freezes.

1. Free Up Storage Space

Your computer can slow down if your drive is nearly at full capacity. This is because Windows 10 doesn’t have enough space to effectively manage itself.

To check your situation, navigate to This PC in File Explorer to take a look at the volume of your drives. If they’re in the red, it’s time to delete unnecessary data. See our guide on which Windows files and folders to delete.

You might also want to invest in a new storage drive if you’re constantly battling with the amount of space you have. External hard drives are cheap, if you’re not confident in installing something within the computer case itself.

2. Clean the Inside of Your Computer

Dust will build up inside your computer over time. This is likely to happen quicker if you have your computer close to the floor or have pets. Not only is it gross to have your computer full of dust, but it can also slow your system down too.

Your computer generates heat, which is why your case has fans to try to regulate airflow and keep temperatures stable. However, if your computer is full of dust then it can be hard for those fans to be effective. If your computer gets too hot, it then throttles performance to prevent the components from burning out and failing.

Turn your computer off, unplug everything, open up the case, and use compressed air to blast the dust out. More information can be found in our Windows PC spring cleaning checklist.

3. Check the Health of Your Components

If you’ve had your computer a while, the components inside might be failing. Faulty RAM is often the source of Windows 10 freezing. A failing hard drive could also be the culprit, especially if you notice the freezing when trying to access files.

Follow our guide on how to test your PC for failing hardware. If your hard drive is failing, back up your data immediately, then ideally replace it with a solid state drive. Replacement RAM is usually inexpensive.

4. Update or Rollback Your Drivers

Generally, you should only update drivers when there’s a problem with your computer. Now, it might be that a driver updated and that’s what has caused Windows 10 to freeze. Alternatively, you might need to update a driver to solve the problem.

5. Uninstall Antivirus and Cleaner Tools

You don’t need to bog your computer down with multiple antivirus programs or pointless cleaner tools. If you have lots of these programs running, they’re likely going to clash and hog your system resources. For most people, the inbuilt Windows 10 Security package is more than enough.

Press Windows key + I to open Settings and click Apps. Then, select each unnecessary program on the list in turn, and click Uninstall.

Next, it’s time to do a virus scan to ensure your system isn’t infected. A virus could be draining your system resources and causing it to freeze. Do a system search for Windows Security and open the app.

Go to Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Full scan > Scan now. The tool will automatically clean up any viruses or malware.

6. Assess the Event Viewer

A good way to check what problems are occurring on your system is with Event Viewer. Do a system search for Event Viewer and open it.

On the left pane, double click Windows Logs. This is broken down into different sections. The relevant ones are Application and System. Look in these two logs and check for entries with a date and time that coincide with Windows 10 freezing. Alternatively, look for those with a level of Error or Critical, since these detail the worst problems.

Once you have found something, copy and paste the event information into Google. There are far too many possibilities to cover here, so hopefully someone else has asked about the error online.

7. Create a New User Account

Creating a new local account can stop Windows 10 freezing. To do this, press Windows key + I to open Settings. Then navigate to Accounts > Family & other users. Beneath Other users, click Add someone else to this PC.

On the new window, click I don’t have this person’s sign-in information. Then click Add a user without a Microsoft account. Fill out the fields and click Next. Then log out of your account and into the new one.

8. Go Back to the Previous Version of Windows 10

If Windows 10 started freezing after an update, it makes sense to reverse that update. If it’s been less than 10 days since you updated then you can go back to an earlier version easily.

To do this, press Windows key + I to open Settings. Navigate to Update & Security > Recovery. Beneath Go back to the previous version of Windows 10, click Get started and follow the instructions.

If this option isn’t available then you could download an ISO for a previous Windows 10 version and install from that. However, Microsoft doesn’t provide these, so you’ll have to get one from an unofficial source or use one you’ve previously created.

1. Danish Protest Pig: A Porky Flag Replacement

The Danish Protest Pig is a nickname for the Husum Red Pied, a rare pig breed that originated at the beginning of the 20th century. Danes living in the Prussian-ruled North Frisia were prohibited from raising their red-and-white striped flag.

Because of the pig’s red color and white belt, the creature became a symbol of national identity and stand-in for the real flag. The breed was considered extinct in 1968, though small numbers have cropped up again since 1984 (mainly in zoos.)

2. Mary Toft: Claimed to Give Birth to Rabbits

Mary Toft was an English woman who in 1726 claimed to have given birth to rabbits. Following a miscarriage, Toft said she had become startled by a rabbit and then became obsessed with them, before eventually giving birth to parts of the animal. Supposedly.

The case came to the attention of King George I and gained national attention. Toft was studied in London, but after a grilling she eventually admitted that she had placed the rabbit parts inside her. She was imprisoned for the hoax, but later released without charge.

3. Ruth Belville: Sold People the Time

Believe it or not, a world existed before smartwatches. Since there was no internet to connect to for syncing clocks, Ruth Belville, along with her mother Maria Elizabeth and father John Henry, sold people the time from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s.

Ruth Belville would attend the Greenwich Observatory at 9am, where she would set her watch to the conservatory clock—the most accurate clock in England. People would subscribe to her services, and she would travel around and set their clocks to the right time. Ruth retired at age 86 and died three years later.

4. My Immortal: The Worst Fan Fiction Ever Written

My Immortal is a Harry Potter fan fiction that was published online between 2006 and 2007, telling the tale of a vampire who falls in love with Draco Malfoy. It’s considered by many to be the worst fan fiction ever due to its awful writing, inconsistent plot, and disregard for the source material.

The true author is unknown and is considered to be a detriment to people who want to bring legitimacy to fan fiction—indeed, some believe the story to be a satirical work. Nevertheless, it has inspired a YouTube series and further fan fiction.

5. Elvis Sightings: The King of Rock and Roll Lives On?

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Elvis Presley died in 1977. In fact, according to authors like Gail Brewer-Giorgio, the famous singer didn’t actually die and instead went into hiding. Perhaps he checked in at the Heartbreak Hotel.

Alleged sighting locations include airports, amusement parks, and in the background of movies. Of course, all of them can be plainly explained, but it didn’t stop satirical newspapers like Weekly World News mocking the conspiracy theory with a front page headline of “New wave of Elvis sightings!”

6. Hubert Blaine Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff, Sr.: The Longest Name Ever

Hubert Blaine Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff Sr. may seem like a long name on its own, but that’s actually an abbreviated version of the real 988-letter surname—the exact length and spelling is even up for debate, owing to various printing errors over time.

Hubert was a German-born American typesetter who holds the record for the longest name. He said that his great-grandfather created the surname in the 19th century when German Jews were forced to take a second name as the government didn’t like traditional patronymic names.

7. Glasgow Ice Cream Wars: Violence Under the Cover of Ice Cream

The Glasgow Ice Cream Wars took place in Scotland during the 1980s. It wasn’t actually a feud over ice cream, but instead a turf war between rival criminal organizations operating out of ice cream trucks.

Drivers often used violence and intimidation tactics to try to hold their ground and eventually the tension mounted and bubbled over. Sadly, one family was killed in an attack which then resulted in a 20-year battle in court.

8. Great Stink: When London’s Sewage Filled the Thames

In the 19th century, London’s longstanding sewage problem came to a head when the hot weather exacerbated the smell of waste in the Thames river. The event was dubbed the Great Stink, but worse than the smell were the outbreaks of cholera, diphtheria, and scrofula.

An engineer, Joseph Bazalgette, came to the rescue and reworked London’s entire sewer system. He and his crew did so well that much of their system is intact today.

9. Extreme Ironing: Outdoor Thrills With a Well-Pressed Shirt

Ironing isn’t the most exciting thing. Extreme ironing, on the other hand, aims to add some danger to this mundane household chore.

The sport is tongue-in-cheek, with contestants aiming to take photos of themselves ironing in crazy locations. Spots include the Antarctic, the middle of a go-kart race, or whilst parachuting.

10. Shizo Kanakuri: Completed a Marathon in 54 Years

Shizo Kanakuri was a Japanese marathon runner who was reported to have set a world record in the qualifying trials for the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He was then one of two athletes that Japan sent for the games.

However, during the Olympic marathon, he fainted. He was so embarrassed by this that he went home to Japan without telling anyone. The Swedes considered him missing until he was found 50 years later. He then completed the rest of the marathon, setting a time of 54 years, 8 months, 6 days, 5 hours, 32 minutes, and 20.3 seconds.

“It was a long trip. Along the way, I got married, had six children and 10 grandchildren,” said Kanakuri.

How to Add and Delete Contacts in Gmail

If you often use Gmail, you want to keep your contacts up to date. This way you can easily see who is emailing you and quickly find someone when composing an email.

We’re going to show you how to create a contact in Gmail, along with how to manage and delete your existing contacts.

How to Add New Gmail Contacts

  1. Go to Google Contacts. This can be reached from Gmail by clicking the 3×3 grid icon in the top right (used to browse other Google apps) and selecting Contacts.
  2. Click the Create contact > Create a contact in the top left corner of the page.
  3. Enter the name and relevant contact information and click Save.

How to Add New Gmail Contacts From a Message

If you’ve received a message from someone who you would like to add to your contact list, you can do the following:

  1. Open the email message and click the menu icon (three dots) next to the Reply button.
  2. Click Add Contact Name to Contacts list (where Contact Name is the name of the person who sent you the email.)

How to Import Multiple Contacts to Gmail

If you’re switching from another mail platform to Gmail, you’ll probably want to import contacts to Gmail in one go. This saves you adding everyone manually one by one.

You can import contact lists from a CSV list in Google Contacts. To do so:

  1. Go to Google Contacts.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Import.
  3. Click Select file and navigate to where your CSV file is saved.
  4. Click Import.

You can also add multiple contacts manually by going to Create contact > Create multiple contacts. Here you can input contacts that are comma-separated. Click Create when done.

How to Delete Contacts in Gmail

  1. Go to Google Contacts.
  2. Search for the contact’s name using the search box at the top and select the relevant result to open their contact card. You can also scroll to the person’s name in the list and click it.
  3. Click the menu icon (three dots).
  4. Click Delete.

Alternatively, if you want to hang on to their contact information but don’t want them to appear in your contact list, click Hide from contacts. Their contact information will still be searchable in Google contacts, but won’t be listed on your computer or on your phone.

How to Manage Your Gmail Contacts on Android

Instead, you will need to download Google Contacts for Android. This works in the same way as the Google Contacts website does, but is available in one handy app.

Silicon Valley is a geeky show, but it’s not just for geeks. What makes Silicon Valley compelling is that it not only provides big laughs, but it also offers both satire and insight into the whole tech startup craze.

Since Silicon Valley finished forever after six seasons, you might be looking for similar TV shows. So we have rounded up the best TV shows like Silicon Valley to watch on Netflix.

These aren’t all geeky TV shows, but they’re similar enough to Silicon Valley that we think fans of Silicon Valley will enjoy it. Whether because of the subject, the tone, or the humor.

1. The IT Crowd

The IT Crowd is as close as it gets if you’re just looking for a comedy show about tech geeks—except the geeks in this show aren’t exactly the sharpest tools in the box. You don’t have to be an IT geek to enjoy this show, though.

There’s also a world of difference between those who work in IT and those who are part of the Silicon Valley culture. That said, The IT Crowd is funny for a lot of the same reasons: well-developed characters, interesting situations, and a glimpse into a world not often seen on television.

2. Arrested Development

Arrested Development has nothing to do with the tech industry, but it features a lot of the same undercurrents that make Silicon Valley hilarious. In short, Arrested Development is a clever comedy about a family of wealthy narcissists who can’t help but get in each other’s way.

It’s extremely layered—you can watch it 10 times and still catch gags that you hadn’t noticed before. But the greatest things about this show is its incredible cast, the strongly-written characters, and the amazing punchlines. Although the quality does dip slightly in later seasons, Arrested Development is still worth watching.

3. Loaded

Loaded has a similar premise to Silicon Valley, following a group of friends within the tech industry. The big difference is that it’s set across the pond, so you could call it the British version of Silicon Valley. In the show, the four men sell their tech startup and become overnight millionaires.

However, all of their new money puts strain on their friendships and personal lives, with far more comedy than that premise might suggest—much like how it plays out in Silicon Valley. Loaded has eight episodes, each an hour long, which means you’ll be laughing for a long time.

4. Halt and Catch Fire

Halt and Catch Fire is the only show on this list that isn’t a comedy. It doesn’t even come close to generating laughs, so don’t expect any. Why is it included then? Because Halt and Catch Fire is what you’d get if you took Silicon Valley and planted it firmly in the drama/suspense genre.

The show is a fictionalized story that shows an insider’s perspective of the PC revolution that happened in the 1980s and the internet revolution of the 1990s. If the tech side of Silicon Valley is what interests you, then you’ll probably enjoy this show quite a bit.

5. Master of None

Master of None is a shining example of what Netflix can accomplish with its original productions. It’s a unique show created by and starring comedian Aziz Ansari. Interestingly, Master of None doesn’t fit neatly into any one genre, which is one of the aspects that makes it so unique.

While there are elements of comedy and drama, and at times even mystery, it isn’t a full-blown comedy or drama. It revolves around Bojack Horseman, a washed-up sitcom star (voiced by the always-excellent Will Arnett) who is trying to get his life together with help from his friends and colleagues.

Not only is it hilarious, set in a world where humans and anthropomorphic animals co-exist, but it also deals with mature themes like depression and addiction. If you like the dark comedy and self-centered characters of Silicon Valley, you’ll love Bojack Horseman.

7. Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation gives a fictional look at the lives of people within a Parks Department. Much like Silicon Valley, the characters often have to deal with the fact that what can go wrong will go wrong. Amy Poehler plays Leslie Knope, a feisty bureaucrat who wants to do best by her employees and people.

The show really finds its feet after the first season, so stick with it for a hilarious and often heartwarming experience. It has a killer gag ratio which holds up through multiple viewings. Parks and Recreation is also notable for featuring Chris Pratt before he became a blockbuster star.

8. The Office

The American Office is based on the British show of the same name. While both are great, controversially the American version might be better thanks to the brilliance of leading man Steve Carell. It also ran for many more seasons, so there are lots of episodes to enjoy on a binge.

The show is a mockumentary set in a Scranton paper company. This may be a long way away from Silicon Valley geographically, but The Office is similar because of its great ensemble cast and wacky situations.

The Office also has a lot of purposely cringeworthy moments, similar to the messes that Richard Hendricks finds himself in time and time again.
